Srinagar: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar, IPS, today chaired a high-level security review meeting at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess and strengthen security arrangements ahead of the forthcoming International Film Festival.
The meeting focused on comprehensive security preparedness, effective deployment and seamless coordination among security and civil agencies for smooth conduct of the festival.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of J&K Police, CRPF, BSF, SSB, ITBP, CID, Traffic Police, SDRF and other agencies, besides officers from Information, Tourism and Fire & Emergency Services.
Present were Additional Commissioner SB Srinagar, DIG SSB Srinagar, DIG ITBP Srinagar, DIGs of Police CID Kashmir, CKR Srinagar, Traffic Kashmir and Armed/IR Kashmir, DIGs CRPF South/North Srinagar, DIG BSF Ftr Hqrs, SSP PCR Kashmir, SSPs Traffic City Srinagar, District Srinagar, Railways Kashmir, Traffic Rural Kashmir, Security Kashmir, CID SB (K) and CID (CIK) and other senior officers. Representatives of APCR Srinagar, SDRF, SIB, 15 Corps also participated.
At the outset, IGP Kashmir reviewed overall preparedness and deployment plans. Detailed discussions were held on venue security, access control, surveillance, crowd management, traffic regulation, emergency response and inter-agency coordination.
Shri Sujit Kumar directed adequate and strategically planned deployment at all venues keeping in view movement of visitors, participants and dignitaries, thorough route clearance and deployment of Road Opening Parties (ROPs) along designated routes.
He instructed effective crowd management with regulated entry/exit points, comprehensive traffic management plans and deployment at vulnerable and congested points to ensure smooth vehicular movement.
IGP Kashmir underscored close coordination and real-time information sharing among all agencies to maintain a robust security grid, with heightened alertness and preventive measures well in advance.
The meeting concluded with directions for further strengthening security arrangements in coordination with all concerned agencies to ensure a safe and well-managed festival.
