Here are the excerpts of the conversation:

TIMES LINK: Would you like to introduce yourself, a brief profile?

Dr. FARHAT SHAWL:I have done MSc  zoology from university of Kashmir and PhD in cytogenetics under the able guidance of professor and head Dr Mushtaq Sidique in the Department of immunology. After completing my PhD I was given the responsibility of establishing genetic counselling centre housed in immunology department then later on shifted to advanced centre for diseases at SKIMS, Soura campus as tutor demonstrator.I worked for 14 years to establish various techniques like determining sex chromosomal abnormalities through techniques like karyotyping. Besides,I have worked on down syndrome, infertility disorders, affects of consanguineous marriages in the ethnic population of Kashmir Valley. After my superannuation in 2014 I was appointed as registrar to the newly created molecular genetic centre at Govt Medical College ,Srinagar.

TIMES LINK: When did you join SKIMS

Dr. FARHAT SHAWL:I joined SKIMS, Soura in the year 1982 and put in34 years of service for patient care. Initially, I had joined in the Department of clinical pharmacology for 18 years. As having background of MSc zoology I was appointed as special assistant in the genetic counselling centre for developing techniques of chromosomal abnormalities (karyotyping)so that patients need not to go outside Kashmir Valley. The department is now fully functional with advanced equipment and sufficient staff for molecular biology.

TIMES LINK: Tell us about the treatment protocol prescribed by your brother Dr. Fayaz Shawl

Dr. FARHAT SHAWL:I am diabetic with hypertension having osteoarthritis in knees. The shocking reality of my turn around just a month ago is that my diabetes was completely out of control carrying a highly dangerous 8.9%HbA1c profile. I was trapped in a cycle of constant glucose spike. I was given more medication and more injections.

My brother Dr Fayaz Shawl took over my treatment using his 35 years of experience as interventional cardiologist looking into human hearts. .He designed a precision programme based on food, physics and cellular biology. In less than two weeks my seven day average blood – sugar dropped to an extra ordinary 150mg/dl putting me on track for a near normal 6.9%HbA1c without any rapid insulin or extra pill .

Let me explain the power of Real-Time Sensory treatment. We didn’t have to wait months for painful laboratory blood tests to prove if my brother’s protocol worked because I wear a glucose monitor sensor, we saw a protective response instantly.

The very day I started his recommendation my jagged, volatile spikes continuously vanishes. My sensor app dashboard now shows a beautiful flat green runway with a flawless hundred percent fine in range mile stone .This real-time visibility gives me and my family absolute confidence and peace of mind .

Crushing morning surge with Kashmiri walnuts like many diabetics in Kashmir, I used to wake up and see my highest blood sugar readings at 8AM before I have even touched my breakfast. This is natural early morning cortisol wave called the Dawn phenomenon. My brother taught me a life time waking rule. The absolute moment I open my eyes I chew 5-8 raw whole Kashmiri walnuts and 8 almonds with large glass of water. We never let the stomach sit empty. The dense healthy omega- 3 oil inside our local walnut build an immediate molecular wall that dampens the liver’s sugar dump forcing my morning graph to level up horizontally.

Another important thing is about the Shermal glymcemic emergency. Our daily cultural tea- time gathering is beautiful, but the refined white flour (maida) breads from the local kandur clay oven are a silent threat to our blood vesselsI learned this the hard way .I just took a single piece of Shermal bread at wedding with khewa and my blood sugar exploded past a toxic 234mg/dl threshold erasing my momentum. Now I have given up eating all carbs especially the white breads and khewa with sugar.

Kashmiri wazwan, Rita, Gushtaba ,kababs are highly densely proteins prepared cleanly with no added commercial sugars or starch thickness. The meat itself is not the danger .The danger is the massive mountain of white rice (Bata)it sits on .

I use my brother’s table side sequencing rules to turn a feast into pure medicine exactly thirty minutes before the meal. I eat my walnut / almond preload to engage my stomach pyloric break. At the table I eat my raw cucumber salad, fresh Kashmiri Hak leaves and other green leafy veggies with local curd (zamutdud).I dip my meat heavily into the curd which traps background starches in a dense gel network. Finally I restrict my white rice to just 2- 3 table spoons at the very end of dinner purely to scoop yogurt and graveys.

TIMES LINK: So, there is a message of hope for Kashmiri diabetic patients…

Dr. FARHAT SHAWL: My personal experience feeling much energetic and my transformation to look young healthy while my brother was unable to fulfill his dream of building a charity hospital in Kashmir, he is using the Fayaz shawl philanthropic foundation to give our people something even greater a borderless gift of health education and hope.

Whether you are full blown diabetic or labeled as pre- diabetic at 5.7% HbA1c mark, you don’t have to wait passively for things to get worse. By standing up for a15 minute garden walk right after your final bite of food, you activate your leg muscle to act like a vacuum sweeping glucose out of your blood without needing extra insulin. We can defeat this silent killer naturally through the power of physiological life style modification.

I am happy to share with you that today my average sugar levels in less than 4 weeks is 138 along with the need to reduce mine Ryzodeg insulin injection. Besides my Hb A1c is down to 7.5% by CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitoring) from 8.9%.
